I finally got around to it

This concept of making my own simple site has been knocking around in my head for over a year, easily. It just felt so overwhelming. Even with premade templates, I still had to udnerstand how to edit them and also commit to one. In the end my site is quite the mashup of various templates and would probably give someone with actual coding knowledge a heartattack. Tidy is not the point, though. Not right now anyways. I just wanted to learn something and also escape a bit from only reaching people who have accounts on specific social media sites that I'm on.

Me and DIY

I have a long history of DIY and this site fits into that jumble quite nicely. I picked up drawing because I wanted things I couldn't find online. I started sewing because I wanted clothing that I couldn't find at the stores. I make some of my own furniture because I can't find the specific sizes I need for my little home. I love learning how things are made and why they are made the way they are because it gives me a broader sense of the world I live in. On a smaller note, I like to rebel against people who say "this is how it should be" and "everyone knows this sucks, but it's all we've got so there is nothing to be done about it". I made my own zines and comics because I don't like the idea of a publishing company deciding what can and cannot exist on paper. I'm not a loud rebel, I don't do this to make money or to rile up others to follow my ideals. I do things for myself and to make myself happy, even if it means a more labourous process is ahead of me.

My intentions for this site

The blog is mostly going to be for me to track updates to the site and talk in a long format way about any project I'm working on that I want to explain further. You're welcome to contact me on any of my social media or other links (if I share them) and comment about my posts, if you want. I look forward to hearing from other artists and one day finding a collaborative group I feel comfortable with.
